Letice was born on a planet called Vegetinaria. His father is a distant cousin of King Vegeta himself, Even though his father is related to King Vegeta, he's constantly at odds with him because he believes him to be a rutheless tyrant who can't control his own thirst for blood and power. Things started to really heat up when there was an assassination attempt on the King. Immeditely, the King knew it was his own cousin, Onito, to be the culprit. Since Onito was family he didn't want to kill him, instead, he banished Onito to a colony known as Vegetinaria. The planet was mostly inhabitated by Saiyans and the race the species known as Hairogs. The Hairogs were the original inhabitants of the planet, but most of them were wiped out when the Saiyans colonized the planet. They were named such because they were of a humanoid race, the only major difference was that their hair grew to exceptional lengths.

There was a policy that King Vegeta had the planet adopt, which was known as apartheid, or racial segregation. Since the Hairogs were mostly a species of intelligence and not strength, they were thought of as an inferior species by the majority of Saiyans. So instead of the adoption of "seperate but equal" the Hairogs couldn't stay up late, talk to Saiyans, and if a Hairog was seen on the Saiyan side of the planet then they would be killed. However, if the reverse happened then the Saiyans would make up that the story that they were being attacked, and kill some of the Hairogs for sport. Onito was severely disgusted with what he saw, and made moves to change the landscape of the planet forever.

He established himself as a political figure within the planet, and won global support. Soon he made his most boldest move and declared himself king of Vegetinaria, and to end apartheid forever he married a Hairog woman and made her his queen. Years later they had a son known as Letice.

Letice took on mostly the features of a Saiyan, being born with a tail, but his hair was unnaturally long, and to make his son be more like a Saiyan, he cut his hair. Letice's tail was also cut off, of fear that he may turn into a giant ape and ravage the world. When Letice grew older, his father noticed that his son was pretty powerful for one his age, and when he turned 13, Onito decided to teach him how to fight.

For over 10 years Letice became a well known fighter on the planet. He won several martial arts tournaments and was notorious at bar brawls. However, his life would soon change forever as an invasion force of Frieza's men attempted to take over the planet. Onito, Letice, and an army of Saiyans with extremely high tech equipment made by local Hairogs attempted to repel the invasion force. It was an extremely valiant effort, but ultimately Onito's army lost the war. The planet was to be ruled indirectly, and Onito was to do everything Frieza wanted him to do, and in order to ensure this to happen he took Letice to the planet Frieza and held him hostage. Letice was used by Frieza to perform tasks that the villagers wanted him to perfrom, effectively becoming a slave.
